Chunky Sole Shoes - How To Wear This Season

It's a natural progression to lean towards heavier cleated and chunkier soles in the Winter months. However we have also seen a trend and transition from understated and tailored footwear to a more heavier and cleated sole silhouette.

Driven by internet trends that blur cultural influences, the nature of the beast has in effect turned what was once an exclusive winter look into an all season statement piece. The reasoning behind this is simple. Aggressive chunky and cleated soles all serve many purposes from enhanced protection underfoot to increased durability. From a fashion point of view a chunky sole also gives diversification, personality and character to an outfit which is important when it comes to making first impressions in the digital world.

Choosing the right footwear for you is always challenging however we have made this process easier in the chunky sole world. Not everyone wants be expressive or bold with their footwear, or styling, which why the team here at Walk London HQ has developed a series of three kits - Harry, Hen and James - that aim to give the wearer versatility to suit your needs. Whether you want a heavy cleated sole kit without being to loud or you want to be noticed the model is out there for you.

With plenty of choice and diversification within our chunky sole range you can get a more detailed outlook of each model below.

Chunky Sole Brogue Shoes

Originally developed as part of last season's Portuguese collection this season's Harry kit offers the confidence of a having heavier, durable cleated sole but it is portrayed in a subtle way. Defined by a black rubber Hombre unit underfoot, the simplistic single toned nature of the sole has seen the series develop from a lace up boot to include a range of formals that have been designed to act as the perfect cross over shoe for formal and casual wear. Available in both black and brown leathers, Harry's versatility means it can be easily paired with traditional tailoring for office wear whilst looking as suitably as good thrown together with a range of denims, chinos or cords - as per the image above from our Tales From The City lookbook.

Chunky Sole Derby Shoes

An experiential feature that originally started off by seeing us portray our own vision upon a classic Apron Boot, the James kit has now grown to offer a wider range of boots and shoe model's that have some sort of connotation to Military uniforms. Most recently introducing a capsule of Piped Seam Derby shoes to the range, James has a definitive nod towards seasonal military trends which has had a huge influence on the wider menswear circuit over the past couple of years. Summarized by combining the traditional attitude of a chunky sole unit with a camouflage print pattern the style is easily worn alongside denims - as pictured above - and military style work wear.

Chunky Sole Loafers
